Priesthood, which is the authority given by God to man to act in His name here on earth, has been passed down from Adam to the generations that had passed by. Abraham has been longing to have this priesthood from his fathers and he did in turn received it in the office of High Priest. Because of his righteousness, he quickly realized he needed to move out of Chaldea for the very people who lived their and who are in power were mostly wicked.
As is the custom of Egypt, priests offers sacrifices by killing people at the altar for the gods of the Pharaohs of Egypt. Three virgins were taken at the altar for they've claimed their faith to be of the Lord and not to the dumb idols. Abraham himself was also taken at the altar for the priests have discovered his righteousness and accused him for the same reasons. But an angel of the Lord appeared and set him free and killed priests around him and destroyed the dumb idols.
Ironically, Abraham's father was also of the same faith as the people of Egypt serving their idols.
Abraham and the rest of his family was living then in the land of Ur. He was warned by the Lord that He would cause a sore famine that would come to their land because of the people's wickedness. Their were many who died because of the famine including his brother Haran. He was commanded to go to Canaan with rest of his family. His father realized all the wickedness he had done and quickly repented. All of them went to Canaan where the Lord had promised for Abraham and his family and his seed. And later the Abrahamic Covenant was born - the Lord promising to Abraham that he will have numerous posterity as the sands of the sea, that he will receive a promised land and the blessings of the priesthood and the gospel.
I would like to share my beliefs and faith with everyone and everybody is welcome to ask questions about us, the Mormons. I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints church, commonly known as Mormons or LDS since 1984. At the age of 19 I went on a Mission in Philippines Ilagan Mission for 2 years. I hold the Melchizedek Priesthood under the office of Elder. My wife and I got married at the Alabama Temple May of 2009.

Old Testament Class Lesson 6 - Noah ... Prepared an Ark to the Saving of His House
The Ark that Noah and his family built as about 2 football fields long and 4 stories high in preparation for the 40 days and 40 nights of the coming flood. Noah had been preaching about repentance to save the people but they were prideful as to saying "We all have what we need. We have our family and kids and all of us has been prosperous so what can go wrong?" .
The flood came and all living things on earth drowned, except for the ones in Noah's Ark. After the flood, the Lord sets a token that this will never happen again in the form of a rainbow. Once they were out of the Ark, they thanked the Lord and continued to live on. From that time, Noah's generation decided to build a tower high enough that it would reach the heavens so that God would come down and talk to them. So they did. It was a reflection of their pride and they didn't even realize it. They have become one in their goal and the Lord saw this and said, "Let us confound their language so that they won't understand each other". So the Lord confounded their language that they understood not each other. This might have been so chaotic in its sense but in my own thought, the Lord might have confounded their language by family to still continue each family's progress and generations.

Old Testament Class Lesson 5 - If Thou Doest Well, Thou Shalt Be Accepted
Today's lesson was interesting. It centered around Cain and Able.
We do know that there were many who were born as sons and daughters of Adam & Eve. Both of them taught their children to fear God. But Satan asked their children to worship him and they did and they loved him. That's where men became carnal, devilish and sensual. Our first parents were grieved because of their wickedness.
Then Cain was born. A tiller of the ground who had no respect to God. Who loved Satan more than God. Able was born afterwards. A shepherd. Who loved God more than anything. Satan told Cain to do an offering of his firstfruits of the field. And so did Cain gathered the firstfruits of his field and offered it unto God. So did Able offered firstlings of his flocks.
God did not accept Cain's offering but unto Able's he was pleased. The nature of the offering is that it should be an animal, not a fruit, for its symbolic to the shedding of blood for remission of sins. Satan setup Cain to intentionally offer fruits instead of an animal. All offering requires something that has blood. No wonder the Lord God didn't accept his offering. Cain was wroth but God said if he do well, and repent, he will accept his offering and he'll be forgiven. Cain was so wroth, that Satan knew what he wanted him to do next, where he'll end up the Perdition and will become the father of all lies. So Cain killed Able under Satan's direction and denied unto God his act.
Cain then was cursed by God, till now, wandering on the face of the earth, still alive, that whosoever will see him will kill him.

Roswell Stake Conference
Today we had a live broadcast from Salt Lake for our Stake Conference, which we didn't have to go to the Stake Center but went instead to our chapel building where we can watch the broadcast. Elder Gibbons, Sis. Dalton, Elder Perry and Elder Eyring had delivered their talk.
It is true that the only we attain security is through living the commandments of God. In this tumultuous times, God himself provides for his people peace and comfort. When we pay our tithing by faith, not by funds, the Lord delivers his promised blessings to us.
Elder Eyring had touched very much at one point in this talk Getting back the members in our family who had willfully strayed away from the church. That means a lot to me since I'm the only one active. I feel my siblings are never coming back. I feel the same for my parents. My mom has been going on and off but I'm not really sure if she has the testimony about the Book of Mormon. But boy, her faith is as big as a mountain. All I can do is continuously be kind and loving to them.
Technology can be both a blessing and a distraction in increasing our faith, especially to the youth. I had my first cellphone after graduating from college. I'm glad I didn't have it at an early age. I see many teenagers, so focused on their tech toys that they loose the value of learning the gospel better.

Old Testament Class Lesson 4 - Because of My Transgression My Eyes Are Opened
We knew Satan presented his plan before this life and wanted to destroy agency where man can act agents unto themselves. He rebelled against the Father and wanted to get the honor and His power, he was cast out and became the devil, the father of all lies to deceive mankind and have them captive at his will.
He continued on by beguiling Eve to eat the fruit which eventually led to the fall of Adam. The fall was necessary to execute the Plan of Salvation. Of which, Satan didn't realize that he really doesn't have to do anything to stop the work of God since Adam and Eve, before partaking of the fruit, were innocent and couldn't progress further since their knowledge was limited. That fruit opened their eyes and have became wise. They knew what was good and what was evil afterwards.
The fall left the three - Adam, Eve and Satan, consequences of their own transgression and doing. The Lord God cursed Satan above all creatures and dust he shall eat all the days of his life. Unto Eve, the Lord God multiplied her sorrow and conception, and in sorrow she shall bring forth children and her desire should only be to her husband and that her husband shall rule over her. Unto Adam, the Lord God cursed the ground for his sake and by the sweat of his face shall he eat bread.
The fall always goes hand in hand with Christ's Atonement. The atonement was necessary for mankind to be forgiven of their sins and become free from the bondage of the devil and are able to become clean ready to meet their God again through repentance. Adam was taught by God about the importance of baptism. Which is an essential part of repentance. I didn't know that Adam was baptized by the power of God till I joined this church.
When they were cast out of the Garden of Eden, and after bearing sons and daughters, The Lord commanded Adam to offer a sacrifice of the firstlings of their flocks. Adam didn't know that purpose of this sacrifice, but he obeyed. An angel appeared unto Adam after offering the sacrifice and told him that what he was doing was a similitude of the sacrifice of the Only Begotten of the Father.
All the generations of Adam were commanded then to teach their children the importance of repentance and the plan of salvation. That it is the duty of parents.

Gospel Principles Class Lesson 2 - Our Heavenly Family
We were all spirits in Heaven before we came here on earth. The basic foundation of us spirits is that we were intelligences. We all had different personalities and attributes and talents back then. God saw some great and noble spirits and had foreordained them to be rulers of his kingdom here on earth.
In the Grand Council on Heaven, God presented his plan for us. That he would help us become like him. Our progression as spirits can only go far. But to become like Him, we would have to follow his plan. The plan was that we would be sent here on earth to experience joy, sorrow, weaknesses for our own learning and good. Of course Father new that we would sin and we would need help to become clean and pure again to be worthy of his blessings and mercy and that we would be able to go back to his presence someday again. The Lord Jesus Christ was chosen to be our savior. To free us from the bondage of sins.
In order for us to have faith and not be influenced by our previous experience in the Council in Heaven, we have to pass through the veil of forgetfulness. This is the very reason why we should all start with faith, in getting to know our God. Through his gospel and love, we are able to recollect our experience back in Heaven. We understand the whole purpose of our existence and God's ultimate's goal - to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.

Old Testament Class Lesson 3 - The Creation
God did not create the elements He needed to create the heavens and the earth. He organized it. With the power of His only Begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, he commanded these very elements and the periods of Creation commenced from the first day to the sixth. On the sixth day of the Creation, man was formed out of the dust and created in the image of God.
We have been given dominion over all things. It's in our responsibility to govern them. Moses was given a chance by God to see every creation that He had done. Worlds without number and end.
All things that God had created have souls. Even the tiniest of them all. They obeyed Him to form the world and the heavens. Everything that we wee testify of God's existence. The solar system, gravity, galaxies and the natural order of things here on earth. Everything that was created wasn't random. They all have purpose.
The reason this world was created is for us to come down from Heaven as spirits and take a physical body through our parents and be tested of our faith. It helps us grow and become more like our Father in Heaven. God wants us to become like Him and we do have that ability and potential to become like Him. This is not blasphemy. This is truth.

Old Testament Class Lesson 2 - Thou Wast Chosen Before Thou Wast Born
I missed to write the first lesson so I'm starting with the second one. Their's this Council in Heaven that took place before everybody else was sent here on earth to be tried and tested of their faith. Christ was chosen to be our Savior since he knew of the Father's Plan and acknowledged the importance of agency. He also gave the glory to his Father. Lucifer on the other hand, was not chosen and was cast down to hell since his proposal involves destroying agency and wanted the honor. Agency is the key component of our faith and growth towards becoming like God.
Now there were intelligences that were good and God hath foreordained them to be the builders of his kingdom here on earth. Several of them were Moses, Abraham, and other noble and great spirits. It's not guaranteed that they will be leaders but they are still left to their choices or agency.

Gospel Principles Class Lesson 1 - Their is God.
Some people chose to believe there's no God, but it really was there choice. That's the basis of their belief. People also can choose to believe He exists. All things here on earth denotes there's a God. The formula in science are just the representation of the natural order of things from here to the farthest galaxy we can see that God had bestowed for man's learning and benefit. This natural order includes the evolution of living things. It is the order that keeps this earth in balance. It is the order that keeps the galaxies and constellations to be in their right places.
It is not by chance or a random event, that we end up here. The scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon and many more) that the Lord had left us explains His very existence. The book written by prophets of old that testifies God exists. We have been created in his own image and Abraham and Moses had seen Him and testified of His nature and glory.
It is very important to know the nature of God. It allows us to understand who He is and what is He like? We know that he is the God of love, full of mercy and truth. He has all the power, all knowing and is full of goodness. Knowing Him can lead us to believe that he really exists and strengthens our confidence. It all starts by believing in Him and that he loves us. Pray and read the scriptures.

Lessons from Church
I decided to blog about what we are learning from Church on a weekly basis. We do stay for 3 hours every Sunday. One hour for the Sacrament Meeting, another hour for our Sunday School and the rest of the hour is a split class where men and women.
Our lesson for this year on our Sunday School class is about the Old Testament. For our split class, it will be Gospel Principles for 2 years. I will be blogging both classes on a weekly basis.
